What are the national Diploma requirements?
Release 1, dated 15 June 2022: 15 units, ten core and five electives.
Is Certificate IV compulsory for entry?
National entry requirements are nil. Providers can set readiness and admission checks; an upgrade product can require previous study even though the full qualification has no national prerequisite.
How do electives work?
At least three electives must be from the listed choices. Up to two eligible imports can come from Certificate IV or above. All selections must meet relevance, currency, qualification-level and no-duplication rules.
Which ten units are core?
All ten units below are required, alongside the five valid electives.
- FNSCUS511 — Develop and maintain professional relationships in financial services industry
- FNSFMB411 — Prepare loan applications on behalf of clients
- FNSFMB412 — Identify client needs and present broking options
- FNSFMB512 — Identify and develop credit options for clients with special financial circumstances
- FNSFMB513 — Present credit options to clients with special financial circumstances
- FNSFMB514 — Implement complex loan structures
- FNSFMK515 — Comply with financial services regulation and industry codes of practice
- FNSINC411 — Conduct work according to professional practices in the financial services industry
- FNSINC514 — Apply ethical frameworks and principles to make and act upon decisions
- FNSRSK511 — Undertake risk identification
How do the core units connect?
Client relationships, needs and loan applications sit alongside three distinct complex-credit skills: developing options, presenting them and implementing structures. Ethical decisions and organisational risk are also core learning. Ask the RTO to show where each unit appears in its teaching and assessment plan.
A provider may combine units into learning blocks, but that does not remove any required evidence. Keep the ten core units separate from your five elective choices and any written credit decisions. The package does not prescribe one course duration for every learner.
